Microsoft Educator Center: WE Teachers

Updated: Apr 19, 2020

Microsoft Educator Center is a program that helps provide resources to educators. Teachers can find lessons and material along with doing learning paths and taking courses. The courses help to teach specific skills and each course that is completed gives the user points. The learning paths are a number of related courses and lessons that are put together to help teach educators, they also give the users points. After a number of points collected from completing courses and learning paths the teacher will become a certified Microsoft Educator. Microsoft Educator Center is a great tool to help encourage the growth mindset and for teachers to continue to learn.

Addressing Social Issues in the Classroom with WE Teachers

WE Teachers is a no-cost program for teachers in America, providing free resources and training to support them in addressing critical social issues with their class, such as bullying, gun violence and mental well-being. Schools need resources to help teachers have meaningful hard conversations with students. WE Teachers provides online resources and many virtual learning opportunities. The program is highly adaptable and accessible. The educational resources are 7 modules that address top priority issues such as; trauma, mental well-being, bullying, diversity and inclusion, pandemic, poverty and youth violence. There are virtual teacher training sessions to better equip teachers. WE Teachers creates opportunities for educators to collaborate and work together. Providing adapted material, hosting hours to engage in online dialogue and even discussion boards. WE Teachers also partners with Walgreen each year to award teachers with $250,000 to help provide free tools and resources to teachers nationwide. WE has also partnered with Mental Health America (MHA), because mental health plays a huge role in students well-being.

After having completed this course and the accessibility course I had enough points to become a Certified Microsoft Innovative Educator.
