Danielson Domain 2: Classroom Environment

​Classroom Environment is about creating a place of respect while also making clear rules and procedures. 

  • 2a: Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport

    • Just being human, just knowing and communicating with the students

    • Recognize that kids are real people

    • Listen to students and hear what they care about

    • Care about what is going on in the student's lives

    • Taking care of the students, creating the environment, and helping learn and grow with the students

    • The soul of teaching.

  • 2b: Establishing a Culture for Learning

    • Leaning should be a shared experience

    • When the students are learning from the teacher should show that they are learning from the student

    • Learning will look very different, it can look chaotic, want to see involved learning

    • Administrators do not need to see the teacher on stage teaching just want to see students and classroom involvement

  • 2c&d: Managing Classroom Procedures & Managing Student Behavior

    • Classroom procedures, things that just happen naturally and should not be penalized for

    • Routines should be very clear

    • Smooth and meaningful transitions between activities 

    • Communicate about behavior clearly

    • Handel situations graciously 

  • 2e: Organizing Physical Space

    • Set up the classroom and technology that is seamless and accessible

    • Is the room organized and is the teacher able to teach efficiently

    • Students are safe

    • More about stylistic and being their own teacher
