  • Nearpod is a website that gives you the ability to create interactive presentations and activities. You can also access a whole archive of already created lessons. You can add slides like a traditional PowerPoint but you can also incorporate 3D models, virtual tours, YouTube videos, matching games, quizzes, and much more. You can also insert your own Google slides or other presentations right into the Nearpod. Nearpod can also have Sway documents inserted, so teachers can incorporate their already created content. You can have it run by the teacher during class or give the students access to it at another time, under the student-paced option. Teachers can also view student results on quizzes or other formative assessment tools during the presentation.

Nearpod

  • Nearpod meets a lot of the ISTE standards by truly involving the students in the lesson. Nearpod causes students to collaborate and communicate their ideas clearly to the teacher and their peers. So it fits under Global Collaborator, Creative Communicator, and even Digital Citizen. With all the assessment pieces and activities, students have to be creative with their solutions and responses. This fits under Empowered Leaner, Computational Thinker, and Innovative Designer. Nearpod does a fantastic job connecting students with the content and technology. It helps with all four C's; creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.

  • Nearpod fits into Danielson's Domain's 1,3 and 4. Domain 1: Planning and Prep. fits because teachers have to understand their content well to create an effective Nearpod. Domain 3: Instruction is next because the activities help to engage the students in the lesson. Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities fits last because it allows the teachers to keep a record of the student's competencies in activities.
